International Activity

The latest international research conducted by the UN showed that the current rate of progress regarding gender equality worldwide is so slow that we will only reach gender equality 286 years from today. The same report from 2017 estimated it would take 100 years to achieve gender equality.

Following years of reduction, gender inequality is currently growing.

In Israel, gender measures show no improvement regarding equality of income, occupation, and representation in key positions.

WePower adopted the UN’s SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) of gender equality and is promoting equal status for women and men in Israel by 2030. Inequality is not simply a local issue – it is a global phenomenon; WePower’s participation in international activity enables the ‘glocal’ approach, through which we play a key role in global change with a unique focus on Israel.

As a veteran grassroots organization in Israeli society, WePower has held consultative status to the UN’s ECOSOC regarding gender equality since 2017. At a conference in March 2017, WePower launched our GEA – Gender Equality Accelerator program, together with our multiple international partners including embassies and civil society organizations.
